Presenting: Pleasant House Bakery!

December 22, 2010 by artandchel

Chelsea and I are excited to announce that we have embarked on an adventure to turn our lifelong dreams into reality. Together, with our family and team, we’ll be opening a small bakery and eatery, Pleasant House Bakery, in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood. Our bakery will be specialized, churning out our savory handcrafted Royal Pies and fresh sandwiches filled with local meats and produce. These items will be partnered with fresh salads, sides, as well as sweets and artisan goods for you to take out or enjoy on premise. We will also offer creative and tasty daily dining specials. Pleasant House Bakery will be open morning, noon, and night, and we also look forward to bringing the party to you, wherever you are.

I’ve always wanted to bring the artisan spirit of the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker to our community, and finally have a location and an eager team essential to beginning this mission. We hope that you are all as excited as we are to see our doors open. We look forward to telling you more about the bakery–its products, team, and neighborhood–in the coming months.

Until then, you can keep up with our progress here on our Pleasant House blog and stay abreast with up-to-the-minute announcements, location details, and other news on our Facebook and Twitter pages for both Pleasant House Bakery and Royal Pies.

I am thrilled to hear about Pleasant House Bakery! My husband and I lived in Australia for a while and during our stay there he became severely addicted to savory pies. I can’t wait to surprise him with a Sox game and a trip to your bakery once it is open!

Read about your restaurant in the Trib. I hated and still do, when British food is referred to as bland. A lot of English food was and is basic and quite tasty. What is bland about a roast beef, potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding smothered in gravy-followed by a proper cup of tea and a Trifle? My late mother-in-law was born in London and could cook anything-and passed her skills to my wife thank God. And I’m a half Italian from Brooklyn!
