Great recipes, dishes, and menus are examples of things that are the result of careful planning, hard work, skill, and devotion. As Chelsea and I build our work and home Thanksgiving menus and dishes, the ideas behind them start to take shape as a collection of notes, then eventually, as written menus and to-do lists, and finally, as various building materials or ingredients needed to complete the project. When the blueprints are finalized and materials are sourced, construction can begin days or even weeks before the big day.
Chelsea’s delicious baking and pastry projects are most often the result of this methodology. Ideas are hatched, mental notes are taken, research is done, ingredients are sourced. This week, she has started on a pumpkin tart that will be one of Thursday’s Thanksgiving desserts. What started out as an idea is now a series of parts. The final assemblage will take place in a couple of days and some simple adornment will be all that is needed for unveiling and enjoying on Thanksgiving Day.
While I love cooking and planning, I also enjoy watching and helping Chelsea bring her ideas to life. By carefully nurturing each step of the process together, we can be certain that the end result will be structurally sound, packed with flavor, and full of love.
Check back with us to see the resulting tart on Thanksgiving and for the recipe so you can build one yourself.
