Less than an hour away from Cancun lies a little city on the Mexican Caribbean called Playa del Carmen. The beautiful beaches and non-stop party atmosphere of Playa make it a world-class vacation spot.
The flavors of Playa are diverse. There are the local Yucatecan flavors of the region, a reflection of the area’s Mayan culture. There are the robust flavors of the rural Northern states of Mexico as well as the Parillas of Argentina. Playa’s significant Italian population brings with it the flavors of sweet tomatoes, garlic, and pasta. Playa is a little melting pot, indeed. “When in Rome…” Not such a clear-cut phrase when deciding what to eat in Playa!
